FILGEN has been in the business of selling generators to different clients across the nation since July 4,2003. For 21 years, FILGEN has maintained its position as one of the leading distributors of the Philippines, with its service aimed at providing businesses and Filipinos power systems that enhance their lives. The success that FILGEN celebrates today comes from its humble vision of seeking to better Filipino communities, while also promoting personal and spiritual growth for its employees. But how did this vision come to be?
It started with the fateful partnership of Eduardo S. Salgado Jr. and Vicente C. Layar. Together these two men established what is now known as FIL Generators and Services Company. Through Faith in the Lord (hence the name FIL), it was able to start it's humble origin of selling electric generator parts. FILGEN also gave good service to its earliest customers. As they built up a rapport with their customer base, while also
growing its reputation across the country, they were able to move on from selling parts to selling secondhand generator units.
Eventually, the company grew to such a size that it could afford to import brand new generator units with qualities fitting their services. It then began expanding its reach within the country due to higher demand. What was once one office that resided in Cebu spread to other cities, with its first branch opening in Bacolod. Soon followed branches in Ozamiz, Davao, Manila, Bohol, and Iloilo.
Not only is FILGEN recognized by the nation as a trusted generator distributor, but it’s also a trusted partner abroad. Because of its principle of maintaining good relationships with business partners, FILGEN has received multiple certifications from companies outside of the Philippines, such as MPMC Powertech Corp., Wuxi Lees Power Co., LTD, RCG Co. Ltd, and Cummins China.
The vision of bettering the Filipino community was also kept alive during the COVID-19 pandemic. FILGEN pushed to provide customers with its units and services, powering homes and workplaces that needed them. This was all to allow people and businesses alike to enhance or maintain their work and lives during the peak of hard times. Even now, FILGEN continues providing quality service and products by the grace of God.
FILGEN has had a long history within the generator business. Despite growing into one of the nation’s leading generator distributors, it has not lost sight of its vision stemming from its humble origins. Holding onto its Faith in the Lord, FILGEN will strive to continue its story for many more years to come.
